Up-to-date information on rainfall is vital for environmental management. Major impacts on river levels and flooding can take place if distant changes in circumstances remain out of communication. The Qonnectis system is being used by a European environmental consultancy for reporting rain levels from highly remote sites. This data is used for general environmental management and information, such as for farmers and irrigation or for water companies for their supply forecasts, as well as in particular for high-priority data such as flood warnings.

The reading are available as both direct sensor information and also in natural units (eg. mm per hour). The download capabilities of the myMeter web service have allowed the customer to automatically bring the data into their flow management software systems and quickly see how the rainfall data may impact on the river network, the local environment, local areas of population, and infrastructure.
